Walked to the consulate and collected Sam's emergency passport from the snooty man, then did a few laps of the bus tour. Seems I made a good choice with this one - $42 one day pass purchased as you board, or $40 two day pass (same tours and company) purchased online through Viator.
I have been reading about Joann and Len's fabulous Greek villa holiday, so couldn't go past a Greek lunch to join them in spirit. I have never tasted potatoes like this. Not crunchy, but absolutely divine. Gem you would want to live here.
A nice walk down to Canada Place and Convention Centre late afternoon for some shots of the digital orca. Sorry It's a bit hard on the eyes in the photos.
The Olympic torch
I had planned to have a drink and a bite in one of the outdoor venues there, but both had people lined up to get in. I don't do lining up, so settled for a Rose at the bar in the indoor option. I love the atmosphere of bars here. It's perfectly acceptable to sit alone at the bar. The bar man catches your eye to ask what you would like. There's no talk of, or exchange of money until you are leaving ( though the added tax is always an unwelcome ending). And sport of every flavour is televised, yet it doesn't feel like the inside of a TAB pit.
Vancouver is so civilised it provides deck lounges in the harbour area, perfect for watching the changing light and setting sun, so I relaxed there also for some time watching the people and the sea planes. Damn fine time of day.
