Tracey's Crab Shack
We made a beeline for the famous crab shack and were surprised to find not much of a line. We went for the special of bisque, crab cakes and one crab leg each - washed down with an Alaskan ale. I had been expecting that meat in the huge crab legs would be quite bland compared to our muddies, but it was superb - tender, sweet and delicious. We were both initially hampered by the sharpness of the points on the outer shell, but after tasting the meat we soon forgot about any pain and dragged out every last morsel without further complaint. Amazing to harvest huge chunks - 3 inches long and 1 inch diameter.
Twisted Fish
We started with a superb Hot Crab and Artichoke dip. Alas, no photo as we scoffed it in record time. We then shared Salmon and prawn puff pastry, which was more than enough for two.
We had ambition to see more of Juneau before the ship's departure however as the evening temperature dropped we could no longer ignore the fact we were both soaked to the bone between thigh and ankles, and a comfortable evening this did not make.
Made haste back to the cabin, hot hot hot showers and then devised wily womenly plans to have sufficient drink supply come to us. I want to say the plan minimized the amount of undergarments and tipping required, which is true, but sounds a bit misleading. You'll just have to ask for the details when we get back.
